Who We Are
We've decided that we need our voices to be heard. We need to process our feeling about the current political environment, and we need to do it publicly. Here we are.
What is this place?
Following the results of the election on November 8, 2016.... I felt like I could not connect with my feelings. I needed a place where I could put to words the thoughts that were flying through my head, and the mess of feelings that was culminating inside me.
At first, I reached out to several close friends and told them that I was feeling conflicted and defeated. I had toyed with the idea of creating a blog prior to the start of the major election season, but decided against it. I decided that it was best for me to stay quiet, and rather than be a voice, I was going to be a witness; a casual observer, who made a few comments on social media.
On Wednesday, November 9, 2016, that all changed. No longer was I content being a casual observer. No longer could I remain a witness. A functional democracy spurs ideas, disagreement, and intelligent discussion - and I needed to be a part of THAT conversation.
While the currently elected government of our Great Nation does not accurately reflect my personal views, I am still a proud citizen. It is my duty as that proud citizen to encourage fruitful debate, and to help to educate others on my points of view. I needed to have an impact on our future.
After telling my friends, and my husband, that I was thinking of starting a blog to help me process through my feelings, I was met with a flood of positivity and encouragement. While awesome and impactful, what happened next confirmed for me that I was on the right path, and that I NEEDED to do this.
"Can I contribute?"
My only response to everyone who asked was this, of course you can. I hope that, together with my friends and family, we can provide an outlet that not only helps us, but also helps others.
